Who told you that you’re behind?
Seriously.
Who decided that by a certain age you should already own the house, have the career, build the business, find your purpose, travel the world, and somehow have your whole life figured out?
Because if we’re honest, many of us spend our lives chasing someone else’s timeline.
We compare our beginning to someone else’s middle.
We compare our private struggles to someone else’s public victories.
And before we know it, we’re carrying the weight of expectations we never created.
I’ve caught myself doing it too.
Thinking I should have started sooner.
Thinking I should have known more.
Thinking I should already be “there.”
Then one day I realized something.
Maybe I’m not behind.
Maybe I’m exactly where I need to be to learn what I couldn’t have learned any other way.
Looking back, I can see moments I once called delays that were actually preparation.
Skills I needed.
Lessons I couldn’t rush.
Character that had to be built before the opportunity arrived.
If everything had happened when I wanted it to, I probably wouldn’t have been ready to handle it.
That changed the way I see my journey.
Now, instead of asking,
“Why am I so far behind?”
I ask,
“What is this season preparing me for?”
That question brings peace.
Because life isn’t a race.
It isn’t a competition.
It’s a journey.
And every chapter—even the difficult ones—is writing part of your story.
So today, stop measuring your life against someone else’s timeline.
Celebrate your own progress.
Honor your own journey.
Trust that every step you’re taking is shaping the person you’re becoming.
Maybe you’re not behind at all.
